Who are Friends of the Clyde W. Roddy Public Library?
Friends of the library are people who know that a community with a first rate library is a better place to live. Friends of the library are important to the City of Dayton and Rhea County. Rhea County needs a strong library system to help educate our businesses, and meet the growing informational needs of the community.Friends help this HAPPEN!
What are the purposes of the Friends?
We have four purposes:- To raise funds for the enhancement of public library service.
Tax monies will never go far enough to meet all the need in our community. There are many important items that are not included in the library's budget as provided by the City and County. Friends of the Library help to provide funding for these extra services. - To raise funds for special programs.
As it's main special program of the future, the Friends will sponsor a series of speakers. - To encourage gifts, memorials, and endowments for the benefit of the library services.
The friends accept donations of books and other materials for sale, as well as financial contributions for the purchase of special materials as gifts and memorials. - To assist the library in its public information effort.
Friends support special media campaigns to inform the public about important library related programs.
